We took out a party of six, 4 adults and 2 children ages 9 and 12. Chris wanted to give the kids an opportunity to catch their first fish. We headed out at about 7am heading north. Conditions were good for a day of fishing and we started out looking for barracudas at 60-80 feet.
About 15 minutes into the trip the downrigger line went off. The eldest boy brought home his 1st barracuda quite nicely. You could see how proud he was of himself.
About an hour later, we decided to change course and go after wahoos and tuna. The surface rod tripped and the younger brother brought in another barracuda. He was elated!
Then it was time for dad, an experienced fisherman to have a go at it. Thirty minutes later a surface reel went off and I handed it over to Chris. He worked the fish professionally for 15 minutes before he lost it. Well that’s fishing! All-in-all the purpose of the trip was fulfilled and the boys had a trip that they will never forget.
